Jeongeup, 1975-
박철호는 이미지와 서사를 구성하는 방식을 전복하며 전시를 하나의 사건으로 조직하는 작업을 이어왔다. 그의 작업은 회화, 오브제, 퍼포먼스, 영상이 결합된 비선형적 구조 속에서 전개되며 개별 작품은 독립된 결과물이 아니라 서로의 관계를 보여주며 정동을 확장하는 장치로 기능한다.
《교란종》에서 그는 폐기물과 가상의 서사를 결합해 현실의 질서를 흔드는 존재들을 등장시키며 참과 거짓이 판별되는 구조 자체를 교란이라는 관점에서 풀어낸다. 이어지는 《아토믹 보이: 지상 최근의 쇼》에서는 휴머노이드 서커스 로봇을 중심으로 한 이야기로 재난, 신앙, 인간의 욕망이 교차하는 서사를 통해 사건 이후에 대한 세계-구성적 상상력과 직관적 인식을 자극했다.
박철호의 작업은 의미를 고정하거나 해석을 유도하지 않는다. 대신 서로 충돌하는 이미지와 시간, 감각이 공존하는 상태를 구성하며 관객이 그 사이를 통과하도록 만든다. 그의 전시는 하나의 메시지를 전달하기보다 불완전한 세계를 인식하는 방식 자체를 경험하게 하는 구조로 작동한다.
Park Chulho overturns conventional modes of constructing image and narrative, organizing exhibitions as singular events. His work unfolds within a nonlinear structure that brings together painting, objects, performance and video, where individual works do not function as autonomous outcomes but as devices that reveal relational dynamics and expand affect.
In 《Disruptor》, he combines discarded materials with fictional narratives to introduce entities that unsettle the order of reality, articulating the very structure through which truth and falsehood are distinguished from the perspective of disruption. In 《Atomic Boy: The Recent Show on Earth》 centering on a humanoid circus robot, he constructs a narrative in which disaster, faith and human desire intersect, stimulating a world-constituting imagination and intuitive modes of perception in the aftermath of events.
Park’s work does not fix meaning or direct interpretation. Instead, it composes a state in which conflicting images, temporalities and sensations coexist, allowing the viewer to move through them. His exhibitions operate not by delivering a singular message but by enabling an experience of how one perceives an incomplete world.
